WOWEE!

What a crazy Saturday, huh?

College football kicked-off. The weather played havoc with games across the mideast.

The wind, rain & lightning caused delays in most of the games I was watching.

Michigan Stadium had to be evacuated and the Michigan - Western Michigan game was cancelled in the 3rd quarter because of lightning storms.

The Notre Dame - South Florida game suffered two lengthy delays and Notre Dame Stadium had to be evacuated at halftime.

The storm hit Comerica Park in the 8th inning with the White Sox leading the Tigers 8-5.

The game was delayed for 36 minutes.

It was a magnificent game...

It was nationally televised on FOX with, perhaps, the two worst announcers I've ever been forced to endure - Mitch Williams & Matt Vasgersian. What a couple of tools!

The gametime temperature was 95 degrees and Brad Penny was on the hill.

Penny performed exactly the way every Tigers' fan expected him to perform.

He was yanked after 5 innings with the White Sox leading 8-1.

It wasn't, entirely, Penny's fault. In the 4th inning, Carlos Guillen couldn't get the ball out-of-his-glove cleanly which led to the bases loaded and 5 Chicago runs!

So, Detroit entered the bottom of the 5th down 8-1.

Then the Tigers got jazzed. Austin Jackson hit an RBI triple. Delmon Young cranked a 2-run homer. Wilson Betemit hit a solo shot. Now, it's 8-5.

Then the wind kicked-in. The teams kept playing. Then the monsoon hit. Wicked-ass rain was coming down. The teams kept playing. With 1 out in the bottom of the 8th the grounds crew got the tarp on the field. It didn't look promising.

The game was delayed for 36 minutes.

The game resumed. Jhonny Peralta hit an RBI single. The score was 8-6.

The teams entered the bottom of the 9th with Chicago clinging to a 2-run lead.

Austin Jackson hit ANOTHER triple. Ryan Raburn went YARD. The score was tied 8-8.

Miguel Cabrera came to the plate and went DEEP.

The Detroit Tigers cameback from a 7-run deficit to defeat the Chicago White Sox 9-8!!!

Detroit leads Cleveland by 6 1/2 games and Chicago by 7 1/2 games in the

AL Central.
