A STORYBOOK SATURDAY

Holy crap! There were some wild finishes on Saturday!!
None were wilder than the finish of the Michigan - Notre Dame game.
This was a storybook ending. The first night game in The Big House. An NCAA-record crowd of 114,804 watching. The Wolverines under the tutelage of new coach Brady Hoke. And...a rapidly-becoming-the-most-hated-player-in-Fighting-Irish-history quarteback leading the Michigan attack.
Michigan QB Denard Robinson, who burnt Notre Dame last year with a school-record 502 total yards, broke Irish hearts, again, by throwing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Roy Roundtree with 2 seconds left to give Michigan a 35-31 win over Notre Dame on Saturday night.
Notre Dame couldn't contain Robinson, who finished with 108 yards rushing with 1 TD and 338 yards passing with 4 TDs. That's just SICK!!!!



While I was watching the Michigan - Notre Dame game, I was keeping an eye on the Red Sox - Rays game. This one had a wild finish too. But it wasn't the finish that I wanted.
With Tampa Bay leading 5-3 in the top of the 9th inning, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jacoby Ellsbury hit back-to-back jacks to tie the game 5-5.
This was no storybook ending.
Evan Longoria hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning, to give the Rays a 6-5 victory.
The Red Sox better look into the rear-view mirror 'cuz the Rays are only 4 1/2 games behind!!



The Rangers - A's game had a bit of a storybook twist too.
Back in May, the Detroit Tigers traded Scotty Sizemore to the Oakland A's for reliever David Purcey. Purcey is pitching for the Toledo Mud Hens. Scotty Sizemore hit his 1st career Grand Slam to give the A's an 8-7 win over the Rangers!
It was a pinch-hit Grand Slam too.
Sizemore also pulled-off a sweet defensive play in the 9th by leaning into the Oakland dugout to catch an Ian Kinsler foul popup. A's catcher Kurt Suzuki had to snag Sizemore by the belt to prevent him from falling into the dugout...
