The "D-Train" announced his retirement today.
Dontrelle Willis, the 2003 National League Rookie of the Year for the Florida Marlins, called it quits today.
Florida fans fondly remember Willis as a contributing member of the 2003 World Series Championship team.
Detroit fans remember Willis as the guy who came from Florida along with Miguel Cabrera in exchange for Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin, Mike Rabelo, Eulogio de la Cruz, Dallas Trahern and Burke Badenhop in 2007. Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski signed Willis to a 3-year, $29 million contract. In return, the "D-Train" went 2-8 with an ERA of 6.86 over 3 seasons.
