I hope the All-Star break doesn't dampen the Detroit Tigers' hot streak.
On Sunday, the Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1.
Detroit had 12 hits, including home runs from Prince Fielder, Delmon Young and Jhonny Peralta. Delmon Young homered for the 4th consecutive game.
Max Scherzer pitched 7 innings, allowed 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and added
7 strikeouts.
Scherzer is 2nd in strikeouts (121) - just behind the MLB leaders, Seattle's Felix Hernandez and teammate Justin Verlander (128).
Scherzer and Verlander now have 247 combined Ks, that's the most by two Tigers' pitchers prior to the All-Star break since Joe Coleman and Mickey Lolich had 295 combined Ks in 1972.
It was the Tigers 5th-straight win and put them two games over .500 (44-42). Things are looking good! Justin Verlander will be the American League starting pitcher in the All-Star Game.
Prince Fielder will be participating in tonight's All-Star Home Run Derby.
He's been down that road before...
Tigers prospect Nick Castellanos was named MVP of the All-Star Futures Game after going 3-for-4, including a 3-run home run. Team USA beat the World team 17-5.
