The Tigers and Indians were tied 5-5 in the 10th inning. Joaquin Benoit served-up back-to-back jacks to Travis Hafner and Ezequiel Carrera and an RBI double to Lou Marson. Cleveland took the lead 8-5 heading to the bottom of the 10th. Tigers' fans exited The Copa en masse.
The family of 5 from Ypsilanti, 3 drunken Canadians and 2 elderly ladies from Zug Island who remained were treated to one of the greatest Tigers' comebacks ever!
The Tribe sent their bad-ass closer, Chris Perez, to the mound to close the deal. Perez got the first two outs - then walked Alex Avila - no big deal. Then he walked Andy Dirks - still no damage done. Then, Austin Jackson doubled and Avila scored. Then, Omar Infante singled to score both Dirks and Jackson. The score was tied 8-8.
The drunken Canadians left their seats to huddle with the elderly ladies - they began to pray. The children from Ypsilanti, high on Dippin' Dots and cotton candy, rushed from their seats and stood at the railing. The screech of a lone seagull and ten pairs of hands clapping greeted Miguel Cabrera as he walked to the plate. Cabrera worked the count to 3-1. Perez reared-back and unleashed his heater...CRACK...Miggy hit a towering 2-run 'tater over the left-center field fence.
The Tigers beat the Tribe 10-8.
