IT'S MAY 24 WEEKEND, BITCHES!!!

Just so all you whacky Americans know - it's Victoria Day weekend in Canada - or, as it's more commonly known...May 24 weekend.
It's the official start to the summer up here in the Great White North.
If you're asking yourself, WTF? It's only May 18th?? You are absolutely correct. Our holiday falls on the closest weekend to long-dead Queen Victoria's birthday, which is May 24th.
It's because we're still considered part of the British Commonwealth.
We don't like guns, so there was no need for a revolution. We just sat back and did our own thing for a century-or-so and they kinda forgot all about us, so we started our own country.
We went from this...

To this...That, my friends, is evolution...

Part of the HBWHOF's Victoria Day weekend will, obviously, involve baseball.
On Saturday, I'll be at The Copa for the interleague extravaganza of the Tigers vs the Pirates.
It's the 18th Annual Negro Leagues Tribute Game and I ALWAYS attend...

The boys rock the old Negro League uniforms. It's très cool. And, as an added bonus, they're giving away an Austin Jackson Detroit Stars Bobblehead...SWEET!

I'm pretty pumped! So, have an awesome May 24 Weekend everybody!!

A's the World Turns

The Tigers were swept by the Twins.
It's ok, people, it's only May.

On Wednesday night the Yu Darvish Tour continued as Darvish beat the Oakland A's 4-1.
Darvish's line for the night: 7 2/3 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 7 Ks.
Adrian Beltre had a 2-run homer.

The Athletics rebounded, today, and beat the Rangers 5-4.
Brandon McCarthy had a bit of a rough outing, giving up 8 hits, 4 runs and being the subject of a controversial call.
The score was tied 3-3 in the 6th inning when McCarthy played a pop-up bunt by Elvis Andrus and fired to third base to get the runner for, what he thought would be, a double play.
Nope. The home plate ump ruled that McCarthy had trapped the ball.
A's skipper Bob Melvin came out to argue and was ejected.
Kila Ka'aihue drove in the game-winning run in the 10th inning.

Oakland put Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin. The move was retroactive to Sunday..
Inge will be back just in time to join Manny Ramirez who will return to the A's on May 30th - ManRam's 40th birthday - after serving his 50-game suspension for violating baseball's performance-enhancing drug policy.

In other A's news, only two remaining MLB teams continue to play in craphole stadiums - Tampa Bay and Oakland..
The Athletics are itchin' to play in new digs, but their jerk-off neighbours are putting the kibosh on their aspirations..
The San Francisco Giants don't want the A's to build a new facility on their preferred site - about 40 miles south of Oakland in San Jose - which is part of the Giants' territory..
Oakland A's owner Lew Wolff, a California real estate developer, wants to keep the team in the Bay area..

RACK-OFF!

This week's RACK-OFF! is the Battle of the B&W Boobs.

You know the drill. Place your vote in the box in the upper, right-hand corner.

RACK-OFF! CHAMPION

Last week's RACK-OFF! champion was Jessica-Jane Clement who received 69% of the vote.

LAWRIE SMASH!

Too many protein shakes, Lawrie?

Brett Lawrie just received a 4-game suspension from MLB after he threw his batting helmet and hit an umpire.

The Jays' third baseman was ejected by plate umpire Bill Miller after arguing a called third strike in the 9th inning of Tuesday night's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay.

Lawrie slammed his helmet near Miller's feet and it ricocheted up and hit the umpire in the right hip.

An undisclosed fine was imposed along with the suspension.

Lawrie, however, will be in tonight's lineup against the Yankees because he is appealing the suspension.

A GOOD DAY FOR BASEBALL

Today was what I call a good day for baseball.
Warm, blue skies and my teams won.
The Tigers were getting blown-out 6-0 until they decided it was Hammertime in the top of the 6th and unloaded for 8 runs.
Miguel Cabrera , Ryan Raburn and Austin Jackson all went DEEP.
The Tigers beat the White Sox 10-8.
I liked that.
Some things I didn't like:
The Detroit douchebags on Twitter calling Ryan Raburn "the new Brandon Inge." Raburn appears to be the new whipping boy for these clanks.
They were right about him being the new Inge though - he hit a homer and had
4 RBIs.
Tigers' pitchers allowed A.J. 'Douchebag' Pierzynski to go 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs.
Jose Valverde has become the new Todd Jones.

They had a ceremony to honour Tim Wakefield's career at Fenway.
Josh Beckett celebrated his birthday by pitching 7 shutout innings and notching 9 Ks in a 5-0 Red Sox victory over the Mariners.
To cap it off the Large Father went YARD.

WOW...SOME PEOPLE WILL DO ANYTHING FOR MONEY!

Get this. This kid from Connecticut, who's a lifelong Red Sox fan, won $1,000,000 in the MLB 2K12 Perfect Game Challenge tournament. He won the moolah playing as CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees.
According to the rules, the gamers were required to wear the jersey and cap of the team they represented in the tournament. So, for a big payday, this dude swallowed his pride.
Chris Gilmore, a pitcher on the Brevard Community College (Florida) baseball team, played as the Yankees in the tourney finals and defeated the Detroit Tigers 10-1.
As if becoming a millionaire wasn't good enough - Gilmore received his cheque from Kate Upton.

I featured the Kate Upton commercials before...but, heck, let's watch 'em again...
