HOME RUN DERBY CHAMP

BOOM!!!!
The cat left out of the All-Star Game won the whole enchilada!
Yoenis Cespedes won the Home Run Derby on Monday night, becoming the first player left out of the All-Star game to take home the crown.

Cespedes cranked 17 homers in the 1st round. This sent him directly to the finals, however, he smacked another 6 dingers in Round 2 to add to the American League total.
Cespedes, then, faced Bryce Harper in the final. He beat Harper 9-8 to capture the title.
The Oakland A's wunkerkind belted his 32nd, and final, homer 455 feet off the wall in center field...

SUNDAYS WITH JUSTIN VERLANDER

The Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Fame attended Sunday's Tigers vs Rangers game at Comerica Park.

Before the game, Miguel Cabrera, Max Scherzer, Jhonny Peralta, Torii Hunter and Prince Fielder received their All-Star jerseys...

Justin Verlander went 6 2/3 No-hit innings until Mitch Moreland hit a two-out double.
JV's line: 7 innings pitched, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 walks and 3 Ks.
It was also Justin Verlander Mini-Bobblehead Day...

Torii, V-Mart and Peralta all went YARD and Detroit beat Texas 5-0.

It was a beautiful day. Scoreboard temperature registered 85 degrees. Had a nice sausage smothered in fried onions...

Then I brought the kiddies home to hop in the pool and I boiled-up some Peaches & Cream sweet corn under the watchful eye of Justin Verlander...

COLON, THE RAGIN' GNOME & AUDREY ALLEN

While Justin Verlander gives up 12 hits, 5 runs and 2 homers in 7 innings,
40-year-old, rotund hurler Bartolo Colon is 12-3 with a 2.69 ERA. Verlander is 9-6 with a 3.71 ERA - but, heck, he's an All-Star...

The Athletics closer, Grant Balfour, earned his 24th save of the season last night.
Balfour's 23rd save broke Oakland’s franchise record for consecutive saves - previously held  by Dennis Eckersley.
Of course, you're all familiar with the Grant Balfour Ragin' Gnome...

CANADA DAY IN T.O.

The Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Fame is slowly slipping into vacation mode, so please excuse the lackadaisical posts.
I was in Toronto on the weekend and attended the Canada Day game between the Blue Jays and Tigers. It was a beautiful day and a great party.
The giveaway was this sweet Canada Day Blue Jays cap...

The Rogers Centre hosted a sellout crowd of 45,766 and everybody was in the party spirit.

Members of the Canadian Armed Forces unfurled a massive Canadian flag...

We watched Miggy lauch some bombs during BP...

R.A. Dickey pitched a beauty: 7 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 4 Ks in an 8-3 Blue Jays victory.
