WTF IS WITH THE METS???...AN UNFAIR CONTEST

The Philadelphia Phillies have a 23-year-old right-hander named Vance Worley who stymied the Red Sox for a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night.
Worley pitched 7 strong innings, gave up 5 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and fired 5 Ks.
Red Sox starter John Lackey pitched a solid game and drove in Boston's only run with a two-out double.

The New York Mets have suddenly transformed into the '27 Yankees!
The Mets CRUSHED Detroit, again - last night, 16-9!!
In their last 4 games the Mets have scored a team-record 52 runs!!!
New York torched Tigers' pitching for 20 hits and spread them throughout the batting order - 16 runs scored without a single home run.
The Tigers got homers from Andy Dirks, Jhonny Peralta, Ryan Raburn - and 2 dingers from Miguel Cabrera.
The Tigers ONLY hope is Justin Verlander. JV takes the mound this afternoon at 1:05 PM.
He will try to become the first 11-game winner in the majors and help the Tigers avoid a sweep at the hands of the Mets.
Verlander is on FIRE! He's won 6 consecutive starts with a 0.72 ERA. At The Copa he has allowed only one run in 32 2-3 innings. The Tigers' ace is 8-0 with a 1.77 ERA in 11 starts following a loss April 27.
The kiss must've worked - he went YARD twice! Maybe Leyland should make this mandatory for all batters...

WHAT KIND OF CHICANERY IS THIS???...NO ONE WITH TESTOSTERONE FLOWING THROUGH THEIR SYSTEM CAN STARE DIRECTLY INTO KATE UPTON'S EYES WITHOUT GLANCING DOWN AT HER MAGNIFICENT RACKAGE!! I CALL FOUL, SIR!!!

Shelled by the Mets?
Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey limited the Tigers to 3 earned runs(2 of them homers) and struck out 6 Tigers.
Jason Bay and Carlos Beltran hit grand slams!
The Mets crushed the Tigers 14-3.

Last night's Red Sox-Phillies game looked promising.
Josh Beckett vs Cliff Lee.
Lee came out on top.
Beckett entered the game with a major league-best 1.86 ERA. He had his worst outing of the season, giving up 5 runs and 5 hits in six innings. He left with a 2.20 ERA.
Cliff Lee pitched a two-hit, complete game shutout and added 5 Ks.
It was Lee's third consecutive shutout.

LEYLAND EJECTO...UPTON PERFECTO

On Monday night, the Tigers beat the Blue Jays 4-2.
V-Mart continued with his Hot bat and racked-up 2 RBIs to raise his average to .336.

RED SOX INJURIES...# 11 SET IN STONE...MORE UNDERWOOD

On Sunday, the Red Sox avoided a sweep by beating the Pirates 4-2.
Remember former Tigers 1st-round pick Andrew Miller? Well, he got his first win as a member of the Red Sox. Miller pitched 6 innings, gave up
5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and added 4 Ks.
In a repeat of last season, the Red Sox roster is devastated by injuries:
Josh Beckett has the flu, Clay Buchholz has a strained lower back, Carl Crawford has a left hamstring strain, J.D. Drew has a bruised left eye, Rich Hill has a left elbow strain, Bobby Jenks has back tightness, Jed Lowrie has a bruised nerve in his left shoulder, Dice K is gone for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and Franklin Morales has a fractured right thumb.

On the day that Detroit retired former manager Sparky Anderson's No. 11 - the Tigers defeated the Diamondbacks 8-3.
The Tigers scored 7 runs in the 8th inning. Detroit's in 1st place in the AL Central - 1 game ahead of the Cleveland Indians.

'Sweet' Lou Whitaker showed-up to honour Sparky...

No. 11 is set in stone now...

Remember, last week, when I featured Sara Jean Underwood on the World Naked Bike Ride? How could you forget, right?
Well, Ms. Underwood is at it again! She posted some sweet pics via TWITTER of her camping & fishing with her Hot friends...

VERLANDER & SPARKY

At this point in time, it's crucial to watch EVERY Justin Verlander start.
This dude is making history every time he takes the mound!
On Saturday night, Verlander pitched 8 innings and struck out a career-high 14 to give the Tigers a 6-0 shutout of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In the 8th inning, he hit 100 MPH on the stadium scoreboard - on his 116th pitch.
In his last 6 starts, he's 6-0 with a 0.72 ERA. He's struck out 51 and walked 6 over that span - that doesn't even include his no-hitter!
Verlander passed "Wild Bill" Donovan to move into 10th place on the Tigers career strikeout list. Verlander now has 1,089 Ks. He leads the majors with 124 strikeouts.

With Kirk Gibson and Alan Trammell in the house - the Tigers will pay tribute to legendary manager Sparky Anderson by retiring his No. 11 before today's game against the Diamondbacks.

PIRATES LOOK GOOD...HANRAHAN TOO

You know what? The Red Sox lost, again, but I'm excited for baseball fans in Pittsburgh.
Wanna know why? Because Pirates' fans have suffered long enough!
Tim Wakefield took the loss for Boston on Saturday. Wakefield's win, against the Atlanta Braves, in Game 6 of the 1992 National League Championship Series is STILL the Pirates last postseason victory!
They haven't finished above .500 since that season!!
Pittsburgh goes for the sweep today. They're 2 games above .500 and
3 games out of 1st-place in the NL Central. Last night they hosted the largest crowd in PNC Park history - 39,483 fans!
I was impressed with Pittsburgh closer Joel Hanrahan! Nice fireballer!!

I wonder if he's related to Tommy Hanrahan from Slap Shot?...

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN

It's Saturday night and I'm sitting at HBWHOF central, watching
8 ballgames simultaneously. The MLB FanCave's got nothing on the HBWHOF! I'm rockin' the MLB Extra Innings so I can watch 'em all.
I'm concentrating, obviously, on two matchups: the Tigers-Diamondbacks - where it's Country Night at Comerica Park, so there's square dancing while Justin Verlander's on the mound...and the Red Sox-Pirates -where it's Kids Day at PNC Park and Adrian Gonzalez just cranked his 16th homer of the season.
On Friday night both Boston and Detroit lost.
The big news in Motown is the return of Kirk Gibson and Alan Trammell.
The heroes of the '84 World Series Champion Tigers are in town as manager and bench coach of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

I'm diggin' the FOX Sports Detroit Girls that do all the Tigers promos on the broadcasts.

Here's Allison...
